The memorial temple for heroic martyrs in Long Dai ferry-boat

Situated on the strategic road No.15 (now the east branch of the Ho Chi Minh trail), Long Dai ferry-boat was an important place to transport thousands of tons of goods, weapons and human resources for the southern battlefield during the war for national liberation. This is one of the extremely importtant points called as “ fire coordinate” that the U.S bombed destroyed frenzy during the years 1965 to 1972.

This place also left deep impressions in the memory of Truong Son's soldiers on great sacrifices of two collectives of voluntary youth while doing their mission. On June 16, 1972, at the Long Dai ferry-boat, 15 voluntary youths of the age of 18 to 20 years (a native of Nghe An province) were killed in the attack by bombs of the U.S jet. And then, replaced their task is voluntary youth forces of Thai Binh, but after three months, a series of bombs that claimed the lives of 15 voluntary youths of C130 while doing their task.

In order to express the gratitude for great contributions of heroic martyrs to national liberation. In July, 2013, the memorial temple for heroic martyrs in Long Dai old ferry-boat has so far been completed after two years of construction. The temple is located on a high hill, with an area of ​​more than 1.600m2, situated in front of the temple is the Long Dai river flows through it.

This is not only a work in memory of heroic martyrs on Truong Son road but also a "red address" in the historical relic system of Truong Son road for tourists to visit and offer incenses when coming to Quang Binh province.
