Vinh Mooc tunnels

Deep beneath the dark earth, hidden from screeching bombers and harbouring desperate soldiers, the people of Vinh Linh, Quang Tri lived for many years in the now famous Vinh Moc Tunnel. They survived, and even prospered in their makeshift underground community. During that time, 17 children were born in the tunnels, each of whose lives is a testament to just how perfect the complex network of caves and warrens were at protecting those forces within. As time goes by, it has become both a historical evidence and a tourist destination for discovering a heroic period of Vietnam’s history.

Today, people no longer need the tunnel to shelter but consider it as one of the top destinations of some history-discovering tour. You are fond of history, and you prefer adventure, the foremost suggestion is a visit to Vinh Moc tunnel!

Quang Tri Old Citaldel

Quang Tri Citadel was built in 1824, during the 4th year of the reign of Minh Mang. The citadel is approximately 60 km north of Hue. The citadel had a style of Vo-bang architecture with its circuit of 2.160 metres – one door each side. There were four fortressed jutting out from each four corners to control the four citadel gates. Inside was the town palace surrounded by a system of thick walls with circuit of 400 metres.

The incident of 81 days and nights (from June 28 to September 16, 1972) has made this citadel well-known all over the world. By using fire-power, the South Vietnam puppet troop was etermined to re-occupy Quang Tri old citadel within a couple of days.

Truong Son National Cementary

Truong Son National Cemetary, the immense cemetery reserved for soldiers and civilian volunteers who died on the Ho Chi Minh Trail. There rest 10,633 people, in white-painted graves laid in serried ranks, like troops in parade formation. Most of those martyrs were from the Truong Son (Long Cordillera) Corps which was responsible for the construction and defense of a maze of jungle roads linking battlefields in Viet Nam, Laos and Cambodia over more than 1,000km.
